¿Qué es innovación educativa?

El profesor Ángel Fidalgo reflexiona en su blog sobre innovación educativa, llegando a la conclusión que este concepto se podría definir como la “novedad introducida en el proceso formativo que permite reducir el tiempo empleado por un alumno en aprobar una asignatura, a la vez que adquiere conocimientos, habilidades y capacidades a través de un paradigma basado en el aprendizaje, utilizando tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones”

Cualquier innovación introduce novedades que provocan cambios; esos cambios pueden ser drásticos (se deja de hacer las cosas como se hacían antes para hacerlas de otra forma) o progresivos (se hacen de forma parecida pero introduciendo alguna novedad); en cualquier caso el cambio siempre mejora lo cambiado; es decir, la innovación sirve para mejorar algo.
La mejora puede ser reducir el esfuerzo; reducir el coste; aumentar la rapidez en obtener resultados; aumentar la calidad, satisfacer nuevas demandas, etc.  Para que estas innovaciones tengan éxito el coste de introducirlas debe ser asequible para los usuarios de dichas innovaciones.
Los cambios drásticos suelen llevar asociado un alto coste y únicamente se incorporan en situaciones límite o estratégicas; sin embargo los cambios progresivos suelen llevar asociado un bajo coste y son perfectamente asumibles.
Una forma de incorporar novedades que produzcan cambios progresivos consiste en incorporar nuevas tecnologías que han demostrado éxito en otros campos; en este sentido utilizar tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones (TIC) en distintos productos y servicios produce cambios que consideramos innovación, ya que mejoran el producto y el servicio y lo adaptan a nuevas demandas.
Llevando todo esto al proceso educativo y descartando que en un corto espacio de tiempo se produzca un cambio drástico; la innovación educativa introduciría novedades que mejorarían el proceso formativo; pero siempre con un coste asequible; la incorporación de las TIC podría producir esa innovación educativa.Actualmente, desde el punto de vista social, el éxito de un proceso formativo para un alumno (y sus padres) es aprobar la asignatura, a más nota más éxito.
Por tanto, la innovación debe permitir obtener la misma nota que se obtenía sin innovación pero empleando menos esfuerzo; o bien dedicando el mismo esfuerzo pero obteniendo más nota.Desde el punto de vista del profesor, la nota refleja la adquisición de conocimientos, habilidades y capacidades de un alumno; por tanto la innovación para un profesor consistiría en que el alumno adquiriera conocimientos, habilidades y capacidades relacionados con la asignatura que imparte; y si además consigue que el alumno crea que es útil sería el éxito supremo.

Según parece, para conseguir todo eso hay un método que lo puede obtener denominado paradigma centrado en el aprendizaje (organización de los recursos pensando en el proceso de aprendizaje del alumno).
Bueno, pues ya tenemos la definición de innovación educativa (utilizando TIC): “novedad introducida en el proceso formativo que permite reducir el tiempo empleado por un alumno en aprobar una asignatura, a la vez que adquiere conocimientos, habilidades y capacidades a través de un paradigma basado en el aprendizaje, utilizando tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones”.  Ahora sólo queda ponerla en práctica ¿conseguiré innovar?
